Interview with Crispina Xiomara Duquesne

Crispina Xiomara Duquesne, a member of Damas de Apoyo, said she plans to fight for a “free and democratic” Cuba “until the end.” She said:

I am not leaving this country until I see my country changed.

She said her son, Mario Suarez Duquesne, was also a member of the political opposition. He was arrested “unjustly,” she said, and died while in prison. She said the Cuban government poisoned her son, an accusation that is difficult to verify.
Before going to jail, she said, “He was in perfect health.”

Duquesne does not believe the socialist government will remain in power much longer. She said:

They know they have little time left. They’ve committed too many injustices against us and all the people of Cuba.
